New bar dice game brings the neighborhood tavern to your living room
Miss the collegiality that can only be found in a Milwaukee tavern? Wish you could play bar dice at home?
Well, now you can. MKE Bar Dice Co., a new Milwaukee-based business, has officially launched a home version of bar dice, a game that's unique to Milwaukee and traditionally played in bars across the city.
Each Bar Dice game includes five dice, a dice cup and an illustrated, interactive game guide, which not only lays out the rules of the game, but also offers game tips and tricks comic relief while learning the game. The guide also mixes digital and analog media, providing six QR codes that link to original content that's updated weekly. Users simply scan the QR codes with their smartphones to participate in challenges, get drink recipes, win rideshare credits and more.
The game retails for $25 and can be purchased online. The first 200 sets sold will include a limited edition yellow leather dice cup and five blue dice, an homage to the Milwaukee Brewers.
Even better, 20% of the proceeds from every game sold will be donated directly to the SOS Milwaukee (Save Our Spots) GoFundMe campaign, which has already raised more than $25,000 to help offset service industry revenue losses due to COVID-19 closures. It's one of many funds set up to provide relief to the employees of area bars and restaurants during these tough times. [See a list here]
Currently, 200 games have been produced. However, if the initial run sells out, MKE Bar Dice will continue taking orders and shipping product once supply chain partners confirm it's safe to do so.
